Strong growth in sales in first quarter of 2014
Figures for the first quarter of 2014 for Bioport BV showed a 113% growth in overall sales.
This growth in sales and result (+64%) indicates that the European market for fresh products is still developing strongly. Mayor contributers to this increase were sales in organic onions, carrots, parsnips and potatoes. There was strong demand from all over Europe. New was the demand for Dutch organic fresh produce from trading companies in the Iberian peninsula.
Other products contributing to the growth in sales were organic red and white cabbage (England and Scandinavia), orange squash (Germany), chicory and radish. There was much less demand for green squash and swede in this period than in the first quarter of 2013. In April there was a belated increase in demand for green squash but for prices well below levels reached in previous years.
