Dutch organic farming profits from exports
The growth in Dutch organic farming is for a large part driven by the export market. From January until about September Dutch farmers export potatoes, onions and fruit and vegetables all over Europe.
Bioport is one of the trading companies exporting organic products from Dutch farmers to packers for supermarkets, organic wholesalers and box schemes. In these winter months it’s mainly potatoes, carrots, onions, squash, cabbages and various root vegetables such as golden turnip, parsnip, celeriac and swede.
Carrots are sent for packing to Sweden, Germany, France and England. Either washed or as in the pictures shown here unwashed loose on truck.
